Scór Na nÓg:
2015 was a very successful year for our Scór Na nÓg competitors with our Novelty act reaching a Munster Final and narrowly beaten in it. However the hard work began last November when many of our acts came together to begin their rehearsals for a Mid Final which was scheduled for November 28th in Moyne Hall. The Moyne Templetuohy club was represented in three different competitions with Edwina Cleere taking to the stage in Recitation, where she recited “The Joys of Motoring”. Edwina gave a fantastic performance and was rewarded with first place and went on to represent us in the County Final where she unfortunately lost out marginally. Our ballad group gave a fine performance in Moyne of “I’ll tell me ma” and “Isle of Hope” but were unlucky not to make it through to the County Final. However pride of place for this years competition goes to our Novelty Act team of Jamie Kiely, Shane Lowe, Diarmuid Collier, Lauren Dunne, Marie Kennedy, Grace Moore, Edwina Cleere and Rebecca Birmingham Jordan who won both Mid and County honours and came within a few points of a Munster Final. Huge credit must go to the mentors who gave up their time to coach these kids. A special word of thanks to Mary Llyod, Francis Cleere, Catherine Dunne, Mark Dunne, Mary Walsh, Tom Collier and Jim O’Meara. The future is bright for these kids and I have no doubt that they will be contesting Munster and All-Ireland Finals in years to come.
Congratulations to our quiz team who have qualified for the All-Ireland Scór Final after a fantastic win over near rivals Loughmore Castleiney in the County quiz recently. They have now qualified for the All-Ireland and will represent Tipperary in Citywest on April 25th. The team consisted of Joe Kennedy, Tom Collier, Jim O’Meara and Francis Cleere. We would like to wish them the very best of luck.
