Our weekly update is a little late this week with the excitement of a county final and Santa coming the same weekend!

Juveniles: Our u17’s went out of the minor A football championship last Saturday after a ferocious battle against neighbours JK Brackens. Despite numerous injuries the team lined out as it had in the semi final and playing against the breeze for the first half they went in at half time down 1-7 to 0-3. They then played with renewed energy which saw a flourish of scores whilst their opponents remained scoreless. However perhaps the extra time last weekend came against them as in the last 10 minutes Brackens dictated the game more, held onto the ball and finished out winners on the scoreline of 1-11 to 0-7. Juvenile chairperson Jody Sweeney complimented the panel on their spirit and thanked them for the excitement and fantastic football they had entertained us with this past few months. He wished the 6 players, Cathal, Kevin, James, David, Paul and Finn, that now move into the senior ranks the very best of luck and thanked the coaches for all their time and efforts since the start of the year.

Lotto: our jackpot now rolls onto €11,300 next Thursday. The four winners of our Christmas €50 lucky dips were Majella Ely, Conor Quinlan, Theo Lloyd and Angela Butler.

Club presentation night and Table Quiz: our annual awards night takes place in conjunction with our table quiz next Saturday the 30th of December in Everard’s at 8pm. The draw for our New Year’s raffle will also take place so we are asking anyone with tickets and money to please leave them in Guilfoyle’s shop or Tigh Maighne with your name clearly marked on the envelope.

The club would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support during the year-be it by supporting our fundraising with tickets, membership and county board draw or simply attending our matches to support the teams.
The club would not function without the dedication of so many volunteers who take up the roles of officers, coaches, match stewards, draw and lotto sellers, shop staff and clean up teams. We are a small but spirited club and last Saturday demonstrated that at its best with the crowd of supporters who travelled to Cashel to witness the determination and fight of the young players wearing the green and gold. We may often be the underdog but as they say the underdog’s day will come.
Wishing all our members a very happy Christmas season and a peaceful and successful New Year.
