The Camogie Club would like to acknowledge everyone who supported our hugely successful day on Sunday. Firstly to the dedicated Committee and the BBQ group, the work that was put in was phenomenal and all the hard work paid off.
To all who played Camogie, Dads and Lads, parked cars, referees, umpires, contributed to refreshments, worked the shop, provided sound and supported the events thank you from the bottom of our hearts. As a successfully developing club we appreciate your support, funds raised will go back into fostering the girls love of Camogie and development.
The day kicked off with the U14 Martin Costigan Camogie Tournament. We welcomed Naomh Olaf, Dublin, Nenagh Eire Og and Moycarkey Borris. Our girls reached the Cup final after playing strong in all games and were unfortunate to loose out by a point in the final. Naomh Olaf won the shield final against Moycarkey Borris. Connie and Eileen Costigan proudly presented the cup to their grandchildren Grace and Lucy Ann (Nenagh Eire Og) and the shield to Maya Doyle (Naomh Olaf). Thanks to Murty Ryan who organised the Camogie Cup and Minor All Ireland Cups to be brought to the field, this was a highlight for the girls.
Next to the field was our Dads and Lads. We had Willie Fogarty, Connie Costigan, Jimmy Bergin and Tim Bergin take on the role of selectors. Willie Fogarty spoke to the teams and fondly remembered Martin. The game didn’t fall short of entertainment, great skill and determination showed by all. Unfortunately one injury was suffered and we wish Theo a speedy recovery. One red card was issued and we are appealing this decision so the player in question can play next year!
The BBQ hosted by the Temple Bar was overwhelmingly supported. A community came together and a great evening was had. Thanks to Jody Sweeney for managing the auction so well.
The whole day was captured by Billy Loughnane and he has kindly given us a memory stick with over 300 pics, thank you Billy, we will share these over the coming days so keep an eye on Facebook and Instagram.
