What an amazing day was had by the boys and girls who travelled to Croke Park today!
The u11 GAA team along with some of the u12 boys and u12 LGFA girls were full of excitement as they boarded the bus in Moyne and Templetuohy.
The u11 GAA team got a tour of the Croke Park museum and dressing rooms as only 24 children were allowed to go. The other children got to go to the souvenir shop and see the Michael Cusack memorial.
The 35 children were divided into 3 teams. The first team played Beaufort, Kerry. The second team played Aghbullogue, Cork and the third team played Kilshannig, Cork. The children thoroughly enjoyed playing on hallowed ground and gave a fine display of football!
We finished off the day with a trip to the Portlaoise plaza for a well earned dinner on the way home!
Well done to all the children who represented our parish with pride and had the fantastic memorable experience of playing in Croke Park!
Thanks to all the coaches and mentors for helping out on the day- Jody Sweeney, Bridget Cleary, Marian Jones, Tom Guilfoyle, Tom Hassett, Danny Moore and Eanna Guilfoyle.
Thanks to Diarmuid Campion who came as our young whistler to referee some matches and a special thanks to Tom Guilfoyle and Jody Sweeney who put in huge work to organise the day out and one all who went will never forget!
We took lots of photos of the children so we will go through them and post them up tomorrow when our batteries are all recharged !
